"Classic" Tetris makes a triumphant return...with all the bells and whistles.
The original gameplay stays true to form: drop differently shaped pieces to complete a line across the playing field and prevent the pieces from piling all the way up to the top. The 'battle' mode made famous by two-player head to head puzzle skill competitions on the original GameBoy (via link cable) has now been ramped up to up to 6 players against each other online (or 4 players on a single console). Items earned by clearing certain lines with item icons add to the chaos of battles by causing distractions to your opponents (not being able to rotate pieces, fogging up the playing field) or benefits to yourself (shifting all pieces to one side so you can drop that straight piece down for a tetris...).
There are also several other game modes to pass the time including Wall Climber, where you have to help a little stick figure to the top of the screen by strategically dropping pieces without trapping or crushing him; among others.
Online leaderboards and bi-monthly in-game 'tournaments' where you have to play according to certain rules add to the addictive and competitive nature of this timeless classic.
