With constant online problems your best bet for now is to wait for a better Poker-game.
The online play just isn't working. Usually in tournaments you have to wait for several minutes for opponents to appear. Once you get to the actual play, you are greeted with the most horrible graphics you could ever imagine. Now this is a Wiiware-title but that's no excuse for cubic-head NPC's and choppy resolution. They could've gone 2D with this and it would've looked better.
Graphics aside, the real problem lies within the networking problems. You get constant errors, get disconnected, loose your buy in money and eventually get frustrated. So far I've succeeded in playing only one tournament through without errors.
If you have a fast broadband connection, I suppose you won't have so much errors. Errors aside, the playing is actually solid. You get to choose your Mii as your player avatar and like wise you will see other player's Mii's. There are also a few basic gestures or tells you can display to others such as amazement, aggression or intimidation. The user interface is also well designed. You use the Wiiremote to point and click at actions and menu items. You won't be doing useless clicking. Everything falls into place and you know where things are.
Overall, hadn't the graphics been so bad and the errors constant, with a couple of extra poker modes, this would've been a good buy for anyone enjoying online poker. Now it looks like a prototype.
