Para-WHO?

User Rating: 10 | The 3rd Birthday PSP
"The 3rd Birthday", first and foremost, doesn't really make sense to me. Lol! I loved the first two PE games, and when I head they were doing this title, I was a little skeptical. I was excited to see that it was going to be straight up action, versus the RPG/action of the previous titles.

I've only gone through the game once, and as of right now, I can honestly say I feel that the story is a little broken. Is it "Ground Hog's Day"? I don't really get where there going with it here, and I'm going to keep playing through 'til this piece makes sense to me.

And I have to agree with Gamespot- Aya is kinda annoying. Not like the Wii's "Metroid" Samus annoying, but everytime she moves in a cinema, she takes a breath- much like anime. I understand they use this technique to have t he characters emote, as drawig can only go so far, but this game is BEAUTIFULLY designed- I think we coulda gotten the gist without her sounding like she was on the verge of an asthma attack.

Aside from the breathless Aya and a story that doesn't really make sense, this game is top notch when it comes to delivering the action and entertainment. The boss fights are pretty big for this little portable title, and the DNA OVerdrive system they have set up where you enhance Aya's powers are a fun way to keep her leveling up.

This is kinda a botched review, I'll give you that. But, at the end of the day, as with any video games, this game will delight the following: PE fans, action fans, survival horror fans- or anyone just looking for a romping good time to be had on the PSP.

And, hopefully, this game is but a stepping stone to a full-fledged PE revival. This series is worth it, and it shows here on "The 3rd Birthday".
