7th guest is the only video game I play anymore and for a good reason. It's puzzling.
I love 7th guest.
STORY
Stauff was a drifter. He went from town to town looking for food and money. One day he killed a woman and robbed her purse. That night he had dreams of toys for young girls and boys.
Stauff introduced his toys to the company and became rich. "Each Stauff toy is no two a like".
Then the children who bought the toys became ill and all died.
You are the 7th guest. You must go through the mansion and see different ghosts of aristocrats and see how they died.
The story is deep and complex
GAMEPLAY
One could say 7th Guest is quite TERRIFYING. You walk around an old mansion looking for puzzles to solve. You will meet FMV based ghosts to move the story along. The puzzles range from very easy to mind bendingly hard.
Cake Puzzle Easy
Bishop puzzle Hard
You'd better know a thing or 2 about chess before defeating Stauff.
First you'll solve a cake puzzle. Then you'll have to go through a maze.
There are some Jumpscares but they work good.
GRAPHICS
The graphics are good for something that has came out on the very first day of 1993. They may not be good anymore but I still love them.
I love the shiny yet dark prerendered corridors of the mansion.
The cheesy badly green screened ghosts still give me chills.
There are no third person cut scenes so 7th guest is quite immersive.
The PC version is by far the worse. Get it remastered on iPhone or something. It's too laggy on the Steam porn.
SOUND
The music in 7th guest is some of the best in gaming. By the Fatman. It's like Twin Peaks.
Of course there are live actors and you might cringe at what they do.
Stauff will intimidate you every turn.
OVERALL
If you're into some spooks and want a brain teaser with some old spice. The 7th Guest is your go to.
