I'll stick my neck out and say this is one of the best platformers on the SNES!
Justice like this game is to the Batman name! Do not get confused by the movie tie-in Batman games. This one is very good indeed. The game is a tie-in with the animated series of the same name, uses the same characters. The story is fairly simple: there is crime, and Batman is there to stop it! All the more popular Batman enemies of the series are there including The Joker & Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, The Riddler, Catwoman, Man-Bat, and probably a few more I cannot remember. The graphics for this game are impressively good. They follow the style of the cartoon and are clean, crisp and well-coloured. The backgrounds also follow this theme and are lovely to look at. The sound effects also do their job well with the noises of punches, various bat-utilities and enemy gunfire etc. The conrtrols your standard scrolling beat-'em-up fare: you can jump, punch but also roll on the floor and use your special weapons, and that is where the fun is. Batman has a variety of gadgets at his disposal, some just for fun and some necessary for beating levels. Some examples include his trusty batarang and grappling hook, plastic explosives, gas mask, flashlight, and many others. There is always something new to do in each level so the gameplay rarely becomes derivative. The game however, is quite easy and is also quite short, and once you find the means to defeat your enemies you can finish it quite quickly.
Overview
Graphics - Superb character and background design.
Sound - Good SFX and music.
Gameplay - Lots of fun gadgets and slight level variation never leads to boredom.
Lastability - Sadly the game is quite easy and doesn't last long, although it is fun enough to play through multiple times!
