Does good justice for the rock band franchise but not so much justice for the average Beatle fan

User Rating: 8.5 | The Beatles: Rock Band PS3
So we finally have a rhythm game based on the greatest selling band of all time,a band that recorded over 200 songs and had over a dozen #1 hit singles across the globe, and probably one of the most influential acts of the 20th century as well as being known for their short span of only 8 years of recording. Here we take Rock Band guitar, bass, vocals, and drums and play along with our favorite Beatles songs. This game plays like any other rock band, you can now do vocal harmonies which is nice and there's even a career mode where you can go in time and play through different gigs the Beatles did. Although career mode is awful shallow and will be over before you know it, and career mode includes all the songs in this game. You get collectible photos for earning stars in career mode, which are nice but if you are a big beatles fan you will probably already know the facts on the photos, and that is really all you unlock. The actual songs included are nice but also leave a lot to be desired. Why are popular songs like Hey Jude, Help, Yesterday, Strawberry Fields, All My Loving and She Loves You not included but some of the Beatles less popular songs Dig a Pony, Birthday, or I'm Looking Through You included. Another thing is that you can't customize what each Beatle looks like, what instruments they play, or what location they play at, they are stuck with the default associated with that gig in career mode, which gets repetitive after a while.

Graphics and visuals are some of the best artistically, you are presented with some nice visuals during some songs like I am the Walrus, Yellow Submarine, and Something although animations are pretty cheap and the actual graphics are nothing impressive, in fact they are mediocre at best, although the Beatles look pretty nice and are captured pretty accurately. The game seems to be short since it only has 45 songs and it does have some DLC Sgt. Pepper album, Abbey Road, and All You Need is Love single, but even with those the game still is missing must own Beatles classics. Overall the game plays like Rock Band you can play with all the instruments and have up to 6 players but another thing is that I would have also liked to see room for 3 guitars since sometimes the beatles used 3 guitars for songs, instead you can only do the guitar/bass combo for each song. As good as the music is in this game, it will be over before you know it and you will be longing for more, plus there aren't many unlockables and animations are pretty cheap. It is a good game still and well worth the 10 bucks you can find it for, but if you are expecting a Rock Band 3 quality game and soundtrack you won't find it here.
