Come on who wouldn't want to run around as riddick with his shined eyes?

I am a big fan of the Riddick trilogy. The movies were great and Riddick was indeed a solid character. So of course when I heard of a video game staring none other than Richard B Riddick I just had to play. So this game brings to you a little back story on our favorite convict. This game takes place before Riddick gets his incredible dark vision. You start this game off in the custody of johns the bounty hunter from pitch black. After other escapes Riddick is sent of to butchers bay a triple max prison. So you of course are the new fish in the tank so you start off with nothing but your bare hands. Which isn’t as bad as it sounds, the fighting system works well. You can block and press the directional pad to designate whether or not it’s a body blow, head shot, left or right cross. In the start of the game they give you quick little tutorials in operating Riddick. One of the best features is his ability to sneak around and break necks. As you go through the game in weaponless you start to get a splinter cell kind of feel. You go around and as you encounter guards patrolling you must sneak on them. There are two separate ways to break a guard’s neck, loud or silent. You normally revert to the loud breaking when you want to draw attention to your area. Like I said its like splinter cell where any bodies you leave around will be discovered by other guards who radio in and sound the alarm. Now of course as you run through the game you will find other means of attacking guards. Shivs, screw drivers, scalpels, etc. Now in my opinion and it’s probably because I love Riddick, the best part of this game is when you finally get your eyes. At this part in the game you can toggle the night vision off/on. Nothing like blowing out lights and watching poor guards scrambling to find you and there you sit with night vision seeing it all clear as day. It’s not all fun and games as a lot of guards at this level have flash lights equipped on their riffles. To me it’s a great challenge, I like to break a guard’s neck and leave it for them. They’ll spot the body and inspect it before radioing it in. That is your shot to sneak up on him and then deposit both bodies some where out of the way. I have definitely enjoyed playing this game and its one of those games that didn’t get enough attention. Game play is great, good challenges, good storyline and the graphics aren’t that bad. I’d recommend this game to anyone and definitely to any fans of Riddick.
