The Club is fun, but the whole point of it is to beat your old scores and there's little incentive to do this.
It runs like an old school arcade game, the whole point is to go back and beat your old scores.
Unfortunately, your incentive to do that is nil. Some people might have alot of fun with it but for most, once youve finished it then thats it, there's no more reason to play it. I was one of those people.
The whole game plays around different challenges which you have to complete. There's a good variety of these challenges and almost all of them are fun.
Sometimes the objective will be to get from one point to the other without dying, as quick as you can.
Sometimes it will be having to get from point A to point B before the timer runs out. There are numerous other challenges, some good, some bad but I wont go into them all. Killing people in these challenges gives you scores. There are other ways to highten your score like shooting hidden targets around the different maps.
The faster you kill people the more your score multiplies and after a while, if you haven't killed anyone then your multiplyer will drop right back down to zero.
That's generally the objective of the whole game, get a higher score.
You will have different characters that you can unlock during the course of the game. All these characters have different pros and cons, pretty much all of them are memorable and quite fun to play as.
The weapons are good and there's a wide variety.
The maps and environments are well done and there's also a wide variety. These maps can include rooftops, prisons, mansions etc....
Graphics are good, it all blends well with the environments. Everything about the game is quite good infact but what brings it down is the idea of the game itself, as weird as it sounds. It's an old way of gaming, and this attempt to try and bring it back was a bit of a hit and miss.
Once over, as I said there's little reason to go back and better your scores, so in that, The Club has failed in what it's tried to do, and the problem is the games whole idea in itself. I hope you understand what I mean but if you dont, then rent it and see for yourself.
You'll either love it or hate it. I guess I was in between.
