The controls are terrific, I just wish the game wasn't so tedious and generic.
Creatures look pretty cool, though some seem and sound pretty goofy and none of which are really threatening, some are difficult to kill, and the giant monsters seem to take forever to take down. There are no boss fights, there are a total of 9 missions, unless there's some secret levels and stuff to discover after the horribly abrupt ending, I must admit that a plot twist regarding the Prometheus character was kind of cool, the final chapter is apparently titled "Closure", yeah, right, you have to buy Conduit 2 to figure out what happens, I've probably never seen such a cliffhanger in a game, and that could be a good thing, but it gives too little information and I just felt cheated in a way, however at the same time, I was glad that it ended when it did, the game is not that long. The game is similar to Far Cry in that you start the game as a reglar dude who has to pick up health packs whenever you're wounded, though eventually you'll get the ability to heal yourself automatically, which was a relief. The gunfights are the best part of the game, which isn't saying much, though tedious as they are, they are nowhere near as desperately dull as using the glowing ball thing to look around the environments to find invisible glowing switches, invisible mines or other stuff. Enemies also very often spawn endlessly until you destroy their spawn points, so you may as well try to run past the enemies first, destroy the spawn point, and then concentrate on the remaining enemies.
I know it's on the Wii, and I should cut it some slack, and I'm actually not comparing it to 360 or PS3 shooters, I'm comparing it to other games and more specifically shooters on the Wii. Sega made "House of the Dead: Overkill", a truly entertaining, awesome shooter, granted, it's a different kind of shooter. The Conduit simply isn't that much fun, even with the great controls.
