Great for the Wii, but annoying enemies, easy deaths, and lack of cover make for a tough and frustrating game.

User Rating: 7.5 | The Conduit WII
I had been anticipating The Conduit since last year. I even pre-ordered it. Finally, when I got it, I was let down. I got this game when it came out, and I am already tired of it.

The story mode is extremely repetitive, annoying, and frustrating. The enemies were not that cool, and the lack of main characters made it even more vague. Levels include objectives such as destroying items scattered around a room, or extracting data with your ASE. At first, these tasks are great, but after about three levels, they get tiresome and very frustrating because of the increased difficulty. Enemies spawn at the worst times, and not in any particular pattern, making for tough playing. There are also different extras scattered all around the levels, which have no perks or rewards. In conclusion, this game's story mode is not very memorable.

As for the graphics, there I was impressed. The textures had an Xbox 360 look to them, and the water masses were extremely realistic. During reload time, the screen is blurred, providing a realistic experience. Everything about this game looks good, and The Conduit definitely has some of the best graphics for the wii.

The multiplayer section of this game is the reason to buy it. Enemies suffer realistic damage, and if a headshot it made with a high powered weapon, they die. The maps aren't very original, but they are enough suffice. Capture the flag isn't very fun, as the maps are very intricate and don't provide many routes that lead back to your base. As for rankings, there are no leaderboards or awards, but there are 24 different levelings that you reach. I didn't get wii speak, but I hear that you can only talk with friends, so whatever. Getting someone else's friend code is annoying anyway. Load time is average, and allows for a maximum of 2 minutes between each match. Overall, multiplayer is more fun than the story, but is starting to get old as well.

Many people may wonder how hard this game is with the wii controller, and I have to say, it isn't that annoying. The aiming is precise, and looking around isn't that hard either. At first, I was a little shaky, but I got used to it after the first level, which is only a guided tutorial. To throw a grenade, you must shake the c stick. This is great, but also very bad, because if you need to itch your nose, a grenade is thrown, usually resulting in a player suicide. I wouldn't worry about the controls, as they aren't bad at all. The ASE was the most intricate and unique aspect of the game, and I thought that it was an original idea.

To conclude, The Conduit is a great game.... for the wii. If this was on any other platform, I would not play it at all. I know that it will just end up only being played once in while, for the multiplayer. This game showed me never to get another first person shooter on the wii, and just to stick to the reason it was released: to make use of the motion controls. I think that I'll play Mario over this game anyday. It's not that it's bad, but it just isn't a breakthrough in gaming.
