To stare at that intriguing spot in the ceiling, or play Morrowind. That is the question...

I started the game up, pushed the Start button a couple of times and woke up in a murky boat. My eyes are a blur but quickly comes to focus. A brown humanoid of some kind is staring at me. It asks for my name. I answer him, Kayser Enzo. Quickly thereafter a guard walks down the stairs and tells me to follow. I'm a recently released prisoner it appears. I follow him up the stairs while listening to the crickets and crackets of the boat. Once out on deck we walk across a bridge onto mainland. Calm and nice outside, water looks purty. The guard tells me to go into a house to leave some information, so I do. Go inside, talk with the fellow inside, give him info on myself, my race, skills etc. This is how you create your character, by answering questions. It's quite clever, and so far the game seems pretty decent. Once I'm done I steal some useless crap from his shelves and walk outside. And that's where the game turns into sh*t. You have no direction, no motivation, the gameworld is full of boring characters that aimlessly stand or walk around. You walk up to talk with one of them and you have talked to them all. They all have the same responses, and those responses are shown in textboxes, not dialouge. Dialouge is just for the first part. Continuing, the environments consists of huge plain ugliness with nothing interesting in them. The scenery is ugly and boring wherever you go. The only thing that gives the world of Morrowind some sense of atmosphere is the ambient sound effects, the thunder sounds really great. So, what you do in this game is walk around these huge, plain, ugly sceneries and "talk" with uninteresting, boring characters that all give the same responses in their textboxes. Or you could fight them, which is just as uninspired. I imagine even if you had your character maxed out - so you could actually hit people - it'd feel just as boring and unsatisfying. Tedious, boring, ugly, uninspired, unsatisfying, lacks motivation, atmosphere, personality, style. Artistically hideous. Lacks anything that makes a game appealing. Ultimately a game you will either love or utterly despise. So please excuse me as I go over to that corner and cry over why I traded in MGS2 for this horrible piece of crap.
