User Rating: 9.3 | The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year Edition XBOX
Morrowind has been an instant hit - certainly a suprise to the immense failures (well-deserved failures) of the previous two Morrowind Games - Daggerfall and Redguard. You start as some sort of immigrant-slave chosen personally by the Emperor Uriel Septim to aid his Secret Police in manipulating the control of the Empire upon Morrowind, by posing (and actually becoming) Nerevarine, the Liberator of Morrowind.

The beginning is quite hard - you won't be able to kill anyone that fast. But with some small cheats, it can make the game a lot easier and funner. Who wouldn't like to kill some annoying little cat-beast you find across the road who roars at you? and in the beginning of the game it's quite annoying to be killed by a stupid Rat or "Scrib". But after reaching a decent level, the game becomes addictive, and completely immersive.

The Land of Morrowind is infinitely complex - the Story Mode will barely take you across 1/20th of all the land to visit - and the GOTY includes the awe-inspiring Mournhold, Capital of Morrowind, and some Indian-Like land of Frozen Solshetim.

You can become a Werewolf or Vampire as well, and the story drastically changes with that.

The Game though has one problem- frequent "Dirty Disk Errors" - but if one saves enough, they will only offer minor grievance.

Overall the Story of Morrowind, is more complex that many think, and it takes actual digging (Like in real life) to find out parts of the story - this is a story as complex as Star Wars, more than Warcraft, and certainly more than some crappy game like Fable or Final Fantasy. The Fighting system is repetitive, but very interesting, and fun at times - to simply be able to go around whacking people to death pleases some people, and to snipe others from atop rooftops like an assasin is pleasing too, (And that if you're well hidden, you actually aren't detected).

Overall - I recommend this game to anyone who has a feeling for a great and immersive storyline, or simply to go around in God-Mode killing everybody in site. Becoming the Leader of various organizations and Guilds is quite fun and interesting too.

It mantains some superiority over Oblivion - such as in Oblivion you can't rob Merchants, or Kill Quest-Important Charecters...even though Oblivion is clearly better, but not all of us have the luxury of a Good Computer or a Xbox 360 or $500 to blow.

Overall, I Recommend it to those who love RPGS, or Don't love RPGs.

The $20 are a bargain for such a deeply addictive game.
