When most people think about what the next generation should be like, they always think about the visuals. They pass on other very important areas like gameplay, sound, depth, and interaction. All are just as important as graphics yet they are always overlooked for the eye-candy. The few that truly know games figured out, a long time ago, what a game needed to have to be truly next-gen. It would need amazing visuals, gameplay that was simple to get into but could become complex at any time, sound that immersed you into the world, depth that would take you from deep under the surface to high above it and back again, and character interaction that comes very close to making you feel as if this game is actually alive. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion delivers on all of those ideals and, thanks to downloadable content, will continue to give you new experiences for years to come. From the moment you step out of the sewers all the way to the final confrontation with the game's main villain, you will know at each and every step of the way that you've never played a game like this. Even its predecessor, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, could not lay claim to all that belongs to Oblivion. The fact that Oblivion is part of a well established franchise and has delivered a totally unique experience speaks volumes about the game. There is no reason not to own this title. If you want to be on the starting line of the next-gen world then this is the game you need!
