The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been catching eyes since it was first announced. The Elder Scrolls series has always been known for it's massive world and extensive history, and this is no truer than it is in Oblivion. The massive world thrives and moves at its own pace, it's people going on about their lives as you move about. Simply the amount of things to do here could overwhelm the novice gamer. Are you a warrior, wielding swords and axes, meeting your opponents with unchallenged physical prowess? A rogue, slipping through the shadows as you slit the throats of your unknowing victims? Or perhaps a mage, slinging deadly spells to destroy your enemies in moments? It's all here. The character customization screen alone could suck up an hour of your time as you tweak your character's face to anything you could possibly desire. There are four main guilds here, each with their own long quest lines, filled with twists and turns. The main quest alone could burn up 40+ hours of your time, immersing you into this world of peril and adventure beyond your wildest dreams. Oblivion nails the shifting and changing world better than any before it, with the people sleeping, eating and speaking to one another as they live their daily lives. Become a famous enough hero, and you may even hear of your own exploits in the daily gossip. This is the definition of what a true RPG should be, and the industry should learn from its example.
