Does this beloved franchise bode well on a mobile deck? For me, it did.
User Rating: 7.9 | The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold MOBI
As a gamer, you may or may not have heard of the Elder Scrolls. If you did-and have played it- kudos to you. This a great franchise. Playing the Stormhold however, is like digging up history that wasn't there, it feels odd, stiff and at times just plain bad. Controlling this game is rather awkward because you can't view a larger map than what your HUD has. I would be able to forgive the controls if you were allowed to view a bigger map, even if from a pause menu. Every time you turn it feels like your character is a robot. Move left to turn, view wall, turn again to see identical wall. It grows annoying-fast. Menu controls and interactions are pretty breezy, though. The graphics are very good, and they emulate 3D pretty well, if a bit repetitively. For every interesting (ableit, flat) character comes at least 30 times the walls, which are not only bad to look at, they have terrible draw distances. It is very easy to get lost without constantly referring to the eyestraining mini-map. The story is the same 'lite' tale you'd come to expect from Elder Scrolls. You can just have simple fun by running around and treasure hunting and never botheri ng with the quest. Sound-ugh. Nothing great here, just the beeps of your own cell. Overall the Elder Scrolls charm somehow wins me over. If you are familiar wit this series, then go, play. If not, try it first and don't expect a great tale.
