One of the best Elder Scrolls games to date.

User Rating: 10 | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim X360
The first Elder Scrolls I have ever played was The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which I believe to be the best Elder Scrolls until now. Morrowind was amazing because there was so much to do and so much customization with armor and weapons. When Oblivion released I was there on day one to buy it. Although it was not quite as good as Morrowind it was still worthy of the GOTY award that it won. I have even went back and played Arena and Daggerfall, which are amazing games as well. Simply put, the Elder Scrolls series has never disappointed me. Ever since I finished Oblivion I was anticipating the next Elder Scrolls and when they announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim I was was so excited. I immediately went out and pre-ordered the Collectors Edition of TESV. Finally Skyrim is here and it does not disappoint.
The skill and leveling system in Skyrim is amazing and well balanced. Instead of there being attributes to choose from like in the previous games you just go straight into the game and every skill you increase will help you level up. With Skyrim however you play your character the skills that you use are the ones that rank up and make your character strong depending on your play style. You are not longer limited by choosing main skills anymore. For every skill on the game there is a perk tree. When you level up you gain a perk point. You spend this point on a perk that is associated with your play style. For example, if you are a person who uses One-Handed weapons a lot you can spend the point on a perk that makes one-handed damage increase by 25% and there are many perks to choose from on each skill tree.
Combat is a lot different than on past Elder Scrolls as well. Instead of the button mashing from Oblivion you actually have to time your attacks correctly. When blocking if an enemy attacks and you block the attack you do not loose Stanima(or fatigue as it was called in past Elder Scrolls games). Instead, right after the enemy attacks you can do a shield bash that will stagger and damage the enemy, when the enemy is staggered is when you can attack. The sword play also feels more fluid and weighty compared to past Elder Scrolls games, which is a plus for me. Spells on the game are much better now. Instead of constantly buying a stronger spell every time you increase in level, the spells actually level with you. Spells are much more powerful this time around compared to the older Elder Scrolls.
Much of the feel of Morrowind has been brought back for Skyrim, like bigger selection of armor and weapons and the skill of blade and blunt have been organized into one-hand and two-hand skills, which was how it was in Morrowing. Many of the creatures have been brought back from Morrowind, like Werewolves for example and Draugrs. Skyrim is quite possibly the best of The Elder Scrolls series and if it is not it is still up there with Morrowind. Skyrim is my choice for Game of the Year!
