I'll make this simple - You'll probably like it. As for the common complaints, I fixed them instead of complaining...

The game is good. You'll like it.

Here are some common problems people continuously complain about. If they put the work they spent complaining about it into fixing it, they would be enjoying it right now.

1. "The mouse sensitivity is horrible!"
Yes, yes it is. Here's the fix:

Go to My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini

Look for these lines:

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0100
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200

Change them to this:

fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0200
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200

If you can't find the "Controls" section in the INI file, simply add this at the end of the document:

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0100
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200

There, it's fixed.

"This is just a console port! It runs like crap on my system"
When you get to the skyrim launch menu, go to settings. You'll notice that Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering are set to max, most likely. Bring them down a few notches and the game will run much better.

"It takes so freaking long to get anywhere!"
Take a taxi, genius.

And here are my replies to common complaints.
"This is just a console port!"
Console ports are not optimized to work on weak systems, often do not allow key binds, and, most of all, don't come pre-installed with a modding community and a construction kits. You're not used to the new menus, and you haven't gotten around to fixing the mouse sensitivity yet.
It's not a console port, it's just a PC version that got affected because some genius in the ergonomics department said that the vertical sensitivity should be lower than the horizontal.

"The graphics suck! It looks no different than oblivion!"

You're looking too hard. If you look at an individual wall texture, or an individual object, you're right, it looks the same as oblivion. If you look at the player faces, you're right, the textures are the same resolution as Oblivion.
But then you have to remember the scale of Oblivion versus the scale of Skyrim.
Skyrim is very artistic and very dimensional. When you look at a character or a scene from Oblivion and Skyrim side-by-side, Oblivion begins to look odd, blotched and bland. That's because even though Skyrim uses the same detail for the individual textures, there's a lot more of it at once.

"The gameplay is ruined! Too streamlined!"

Skyrim is made for the masses, so they are following more of a K-I-S-S (Keep it simple, stupid) philosophy. So yeah, if you think it's too easy, turn the difficulty up. Bethesda cannot rely on older fans to make money - Skyrim costed a hell of a lot more than Oblivion, so they need a hell of a lot more sales than Oblivion, so they need a hell of a lot more people to like Skyrim.

"Alright, I guess the graphics do look pretty good and the gameplay is actually pretty fun. But what about the quests? They're so dull and incomplex."

And they weren't in Oblivion or Morrowind? The quests are actually better, in my opinion.

"But what about the AI? It's so robotic and unrealistic."
...

"The weapons don't even kill quickly. It's like you're scratching people. It's unrealistic."

You mean like Oblivion, when they walk up to you with a strangely dull face and say "Hello. How are you? My daughter was murdered by bandits. Can you kill them? Thanks. I marked the location on your map with my psychic powers even though I'm staring right into your eyes like I'm about to su."
.......

"This is so unrealistic, where does my other sword go when I holster it?"
......

"This is unrealistic, I--"
YOU'RE IN A WORLD FILLED WITH MAGIC AND DRAGONS WHERE YOU CAN GET SHOT IN THE CHEST FIVE TIMES WITH ARROWS AND SPRINT AROUND, WHILE CARRYING 300 KILOGRAMS OF EQUIPMENT, AND YOU CAN SIMPLY REVERSE TIME EVERY TIME YOU ACTUALLY ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO GET KILLED!
The game isn't supposed to be realistic. It's supposed to be fun.
If you want realistic, get off the computer and live your life, because if your Oblivion/Skyrim character were realistic, it would have to eat, drink, piss, crap, sleep and all that too.
