Skyrim reaches for the sky. Does it reach gaming heaven?

User Rating: 9.5 | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PC
Skyrim is a beautifully crafted, engaging and fun adventure.
The game does a great job getting you engaged in the game. It makes you forget you're in your own room full of funyuns and dr pepper and not in Skyrim yourself.
The gameplay so far is very fun, even if combat isn't perfect and sometimes hard to tell while in first person mode if you are actually out of the way of an enemy strike. But you do get used to it and find ways to deal with it. Though every other aspect of gameplay is pretty great.
The magic spells, sneaking, crafting, enchanting and alchemy all work great and are not too easy or difficult.

The enemies you come across vary in difficulty. I sometimes find enemies along the road or at the very end of a cave to be almost impossible to kill at the current level. So either reload your save and try again, go a different route or try another quest till you level up and get stronger. You can usually kill stronger enemies if you have the right combination of potions, resist potions, items and magic. It is all just figuring out or planning what to do against what enemies and how to go about it.

The graphics in Skyrim are some of the best of current games I've seen. The sound is amazing. The only complaint I'd imagine people having is the npcs dialogue on repeating things, seeming to "forget" about what you have just talked about, or don't recognize you. But let's face it, it's a game and that would take so much more work to perfect.

The game runs great on my pc which is new. So as long as you can run recommended settings you should be fine.
I can't get into the main story because I really haven't gotten too far into myself. Still Skyrim has plenty to do, I have yet to even get close to a point of having only a few quests or nothing to do.
I ALWAYS have plenty of sidequests to do. I also get distracted as much as the next person when doing a quest. You see something you want to check out or explore and next thing you know it's 2 or 3 hours later and you are still exploring and forgot about the quest you were previously working towards.

There isn't much more I can say, or rather too much to say about this game. It's a blast, I love it and can't stop playing it when I start. I just bought Rage through a steam deal a week before, have Bf3 and got Saints Row 3. I really have no idea when I am going to get to those games because Skyrim is THAT entertaining without me even being into Fantasy, D&D, etc. So this really is THE game for anyone who likes adventure and action.

Skyrim reaches for gaming heaven and gets as close as a game can get. This is definitely my vote for game of the year.
