If you were looking for epic, you've found it...

User Rating: 9 | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PC
Skyrim is a real gem and is my Game of the Year for 2011. It trumps all the games I've played quite substantially. When I first loaded it up I was a little worried it seemed smaller than the the previous installment of Elder Scrolls. The Menu was that "lazy developer black version" we saw in games like Dragon Age 2. (It's not cool devs, anybody can throw a black background behind a menu, what happened to the extravagant menus of old times?)

Despite the initial worry Skyrim soon becomes the game we expected. Sprawling landscapes which unlike (Rage and Fallout) are actually brilliant to explore - fortunately due to the sheer scale you find yourself looking for a horse which means you need to do a quest to do something else which gives rise to hundreds of other possibilities. Guilds, skills, inventory, houses, pretty much anything you could think of. It's great when side quests are actually interesting to play and you get worthwhile rewards for doing them (along the way and at the end)

This game is HUGE! Sadly the actual main story isn't as good as it should have been and the main danger to Skyrim feels disjointed from the world. Despite this the game is still brilliant - an RPG dream!

Graphics: 9/10 very good and very varied
Sound: 9/10 great sound effects
Gameplay: 9/10

Other: I wanted to give this game a 9.5 but it drops just short of this because of one or two frustrating technical glitches. The main story should have had a greater impact on the cities in the game

Buy it you wont regret it!
