A masterpiece of epic proportions - one of the best experiences in gaming history.

Skyrim is the sort of game that you can spend days on end with and hardly even scratch the surface of all that's available in its immersive and captivating world. The main quest, which leads you to defeating the dragon Alduin, is a truly epic journey and one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever encountered - and, amazingly enough, this lengthy quest is hardly a fraction of all that's available to do in Skyrim. The open world that Bethesda has created here is filled with things to explore, and even smaller concepts (like alchemy, for example) can steal hours of sunlight from the frenzied gamer in search of ingredients to create a new potion.

While a long game does not necessarily equal a great game, the way that Bethesda has managed to create a huge explorable world that is fun no matter what you're doing is indicative of greatness. It's one of the most visually appealing games out there, it has a compelling storyline, and most of all, it's downright addictive as hell. This is an epic masterpiece to go down for the ages - one of gaming's most notable milestones.
