To start off I will not defend Bethesda games for shipping an incomplete game. That was flat out wrong of the them. They have no excuse. The reality is that the PS3 version of the game is (as of 1-31-12) broken. It is no secret that Skyrim has a terrible lag problem when it comes to the PS3. This makes me extremely sad bc the PS3 is of course my system of choice. However, I do believe that it will not stay broken for much longer bc Bethesda is usually pretty good about releasing patches for the game Also there are temporary work arounds for this problem. Despite this major problem I have chosen to give the game a rating of 10. 10 means masterpiece. That is what Skyrim truly is. The amount of detail that is in this game is amazing. The graphics engine is gorgeous and the detail that it brings to the environment is breath taking. Every now and then you will come across some pop in and some texture problems. I have noticed little frame rate issue or screen tearing (other than the lag that sometimes [rarely] intrudes on the PS3). The quest in the game are different and bring about a breathe of fresh air. There is a great combination from fetching quest to story driven and sometimes even philosophical quest lines. The are literally hundreds of these quests to discover. There is always something to do in the world of Skyrim. The controls are best when in first person. When you switch to third person it can get a bit choppy. Horse back is with out a doubt the worse time to try and control your character. The screen automatically switches to third person when you get on a horse and the camera can be awkward. The developers obviously did this to try and show off how much better the third person camera has gotten. While it has got a lot better from the days of Morrowind and oblivion it is not where it should be and therefore should not be forced upon the character. The main quest line is not as strong as it was in Oblivion but is still pretty strong. I am extremely excited to see that Bethesda has gotten more voice actors. I very rarely come across the same voice in a row. While there are many glitches in this game it is understanding given the size of this game. I mean it truly is MASSIVE!! I don't really know what else to say other than BUY THIS GAME!! Trust me your money will be very well spent.
