The Getaway: Black Monday is much worse than the original.

User Rating: 4.9 | The Getaway: Black Monday PS2
Most of us look for certian qualities out of sequels to games we enjoy or at least think have potential. The Getaway: Black Monday is the sequel to the Getaway, developed by Team Soho and Published by Sony Computer Entertainment America. There is absolutely nothing better about this sequel over it's original which is especially frustrating considering this series potential to be a incredible saga. Controls are just as buggy and broken, and the story is particularly not as enjoyable and much more boring this time around. In the original Getaway some of the broken gameplay and bugs were negated due to a incredible and intriguing story, however The Getaway: Black Monday's story is no where near competent enough to carry it in light of the broken gameplay. Gameplay: You take control of three different characters through various levels, all of which are forgettable and uninspired. The stealth missions are especially dull and lack any gameplay that remotely resembles fun. The gunplay is as broken as in the original title, and the manual aiming is frustrating. Driving missions are about the only fun to be had here, but due to all the mess you have to sit through to enjoy them, it's not worth it. A lack of an onscreen map is still ridiculous as is the idea of healing from gunshot wounds by leaning against a wall. Graphics: Marginally updated since the original Getaway. This series still stands on it's own as a good looking game, but there are many PS2 games these days far beyond this. Many textures are flat and blurry. Character models and cutscenes are well done. Sound: Probably the only redeeming quality of this title is the sound. Everything sounds authentic, and the voice acting is great. Value: No where near $50. This game unlike the first (due to it's great story) screams bargain game through and through. Review brought to you by: -=BL1NDS1DE=- aka -=RyshidenXBL=-
