The Getaway has a excellent story that helps ease you through it's boring and broken game play.

User Rating: 6 | The Getaway PS2
The Getaway is full of bugs, broken gameplay, and poor animation and design, but still is an enjoyable experience due to an incredibly engaging story and excellent cut-scenes. It's rare a game with poor gameplay ends up being a compelling game that you want to finish. This speaks volumes for the script and story involved as well as the excellent voice acting and cinemas. Gameplay: As stated above, absolutely nothing about the gameplay here is much fun. The driving missions are the most functional, but still lack the finesse and fun involved in games with similar experiences. Lack of a onscreen map needs to be addressed, as does the horrible aiming and camera. Graphics: Very nice. Character models and cutscenes are especially well done. Textures are a bit muddy, but otherwise this is an excellent looking title. Sound: Fairly well done. The voice acting and music is well done. Value: At $19.99 it's not a bad buy due to the excellent story.
