The Godfather trilogy are excellent films and they have always been heavy handed on story telling. Sadly godfather 2s story does not live up to its famous name. You play as a lackey named Dominick to the Corleone Family and after a party on new years eve in Cuba all hell breaks lose and Aldo Tranpini (the protagonist from the first game is killed). Your Task is to build a gang withing the Corleone family and take on 4 other rival families in cities ranging from the big apple to Miami and back to Cuba. the story has some interesting characters and some nice voice acting but characters rarely speek to you and interesting characters either die off or just don't have long enough moments on camera to show how good they actually are. despite having 3 cities to explore the areas are very small and not much exploring can be done. Miami is fairly sized and it looks rather nice but New York and Cuba are slightly blooded multiplayer maps. Gameplay is where the game shines. The excellent combat system returns with more than a few tweaks added it. punches kicks throws head smashing and finishers are very satisfying and the same goes for gun play. standard pistols rifles, Tommy guns, Molotov's and of course the infamous garrot wire are here and they too have their own executions. nothing more fun than sticking the barrel of your Tommy into someones mouth and pulling the trigger. though the A.I is rather poor enemy wise your comrade A.I isn't as horrible as they say. each person you recruit has an ability or two as they rise through the ranks in your criminal empire. from blowing up buildings to beating up annoying witnesses the abilitys are useful and will help you take ver the numerous businesses needed to "win" the city. Since you are a Don now there is a new mechanic called the dons view. this is where you send your men to do dirty work hire guards to protect your business and more. though after you eventually take over every business the game gets boring at the end with all you basically doing is driving around killing people. VERY anti climatic. then theres multiplayer i doubt many people still play but if you can find a game its a very fun mode. though the maps are rather mediocre the game modes were fun. soo the story is blah and the areas not very attractive but this is still a fun action gameeee until the very end
