how a 1940s style sandbox game should feel
On to the game play.
the controls are very good for this game and it does particularly well with combat and gun play to through a punch you lock on to you re enemy and move the left analog stick in a jab motion.
The gun play is also one of the best for a ps2 sand box game manly because of the lock on and cover system. The game is set with a over the back 3rd person view making for a light gears of war style perspective. The game world is somewhat large but does a good job of having a 1940's like fell you can here people talk about the New York Mets and other things and in most alleys you will encounter a black market sales man who you can buy Molotov's gun upgrades and amo from the inside of stores and people in the city of New York are used repetitively, and some of the bakery's will look alike. also the background scenery could use some work but is easy to ignore and i giggled at first when i saw that don Corleone and Tom Haggen have a nice touch of detail when you don't but don't worry that is actually a good thing.
In all this game has a good 1940s feel with a good way of having the player interact with the events of the movie. The character customization is well done some goes with the map along with the upgrade system.there some problems mainly including the way the story criss crosses in a not so good way . Also note the scratchy graphics repetetive character and shop design and a rare frame rate slow down in some repetitive heated up car races.
In the end though these minor problems can be ignored and is a winner with its unique combat and shop extortion game play and its well done add in story.
This ones a winner in my book.
