The greatest movie ever made comes to life as The Godfather Game certainly "Makes You An Offer You Can't Refuse". Period
Another "GTA" you might say, not entirely accurate... Read On...
The game opens with a cutscene, depicting your father murdered by a rival Mafia boss right in front of your eyes. There's also small "fighting tutorial" that helps you get a feel for the new fighting system. Don Vito Corleone then enters the scene and promises that when you become older, you may take revenge. The scene then closes and you then move on to create your very own Mobster with the new "MobFace"... how awesome is that?
The "MobFace" system offers a wide variety of hair, clothing, skin, etc. textures. You start off with no money of course, so you can't buy the best of clothing, but not to worry because soon enough you'll be making the big bucks by doing Story missions, carrying out Contract Hits, and extoring business and taking over the illegal rackets.
The Godfather offers a wide variety of gameplay features that will literally knock your socks off. The new "Blackhand Control" fighting system gives you total control of your mobster when fighting or shooting. You can strangle a victim, throw them, beat them, bash their heads into a cash register, slam them against a wall, or throw them into a bakery fire oven. When wielding a gun, you can target a specific part of the victim's body: head, arms, legs, stomach. There is also an "Execute" button that will let you finish off your vicitim when they are wounded (think of "Finish Him" in Mortal Kombat)...
The huge map offers a real-life glimpse of 1940s New York City. With the Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Midtown areas.
The only thing I do not like about this game is the person, building, and vehicle model recycler. You tend to see the same person or building throughout the game, which is really a minus to a great game.
Overall, The Godfather is a game worthy of buying. It offers many gameplay features that the GTA series does not. And who doesn't enjoy being able to create and play as a mobster and work your way up to become the Don of your own Mafia Crime Family?... 9.1/10
