While Bringing some innovations, The Godfather delivers a heavily immersive game of domination based on the movie.
Technicals
The graphics are great. Based on the GTA Graphic Engine, this is not new stuff, but refined. The Ambiance of the 1940's New York City is well executed, adding an immersive factor in the game. The Cars, are nicely crafted, but the model are over used in the game, that make an effect of Deja Vu soon in the game. The interior of buildings are like the outside, and somehow faithful at the Movie's restaurant (For exemple the Louis's Restorante). As for the Character, well, there's something odd about it. They are nice, but if you check it closely, you will notice that the face is being in High Polygon and the rest in low poly. It's nothing except for those who are fancy about little details. As for the Sound. Well it's no innovation, the sound is good. The Voice acting is well executed, as for the voice of Don Vito Corleone, wow, must have my credits to digitaly syntetise his voice... The only drawback I found is sometime, when Hijacking vechicules, a woman will get out of it, but you will hear a man's voice taunting you. and Vice Versa. For the gameplay, nothing's difficult. I found this game pretty easy in fact. A Small tutorial is gived to you at the beginning, and then others controls will be explains later in the game, as you progress. A drawback in the control thought... The Targeting system, when you're in crowed space filled with innocent bystanders, you may target one of them and shoot, while bad guys are filling you with lead all over your body. It can be a source of great frustration.
What's make the game so immersive, is the way the story is done, matching perfectly with the movie. And also the Rackets and Commerce game, when you have to extort Commercant to give a cut to the Don. The biggest drawback of the game is that EA used the Rackets and Commerce too many times. It feel too much repetitive. But this is your primary source of money. The Guns too are fun, more with the Street Sweeper (Damn it rock!).
Well this is it, Not my best review, but i'll do much better the next time
