A great game, putting all of the 'F' bombs aside, that does not take itself serious.

User Rating: 8 | The House of the Dead: Overkill WII

The House of the Dead: Overkill is the latest addition to the series and on the most unusual, yet perfect, console for it to be on: the Wii. The point and shoot mechanism of this console works well for railgun shooters and HOTD: Overkill is no exception. Playing as Agent G and/or Detective Washington, you shoot your way through hordes of zombies and mutated monsters to put an end to the madness going on around you.

If there was ever any proof that B-list horror movies can work in this day and age, this would be it. Though if anyone was expecting anything like the other House Of The Dead games won't really find them here. The game is a cakewalk, especially if you have someone by your side (who can join in or out of a game at any time if need be) and most enemies, including the bosses, go down in a small amount of shots from the pistols. Plus, unlike the other games that had limited continues (or how many quarters you had back in the day), you get unlimited continues so the loss of lives mean nothing should you die anywhere on the stages.....until you unlock the Director's Cut, which is a much longer and more difficult campaign than the original one, although you'll have to beat the game first before you do.

HOTD: Overkill is also in the Guinness Book of Records.....for all of the wrong reasons. The amount of 'F' bombs dropped in this game alone are enough to make a pirate say that enough is enough. Obviously this is a game that you wouldn't want your children as young as 4 years old playing, now would you? I still question why the game was made for the Wii, especially with the demographic that it has. But the controls for the Wii work perfectly on an otherwise great game. It does have some technical flaws in it when there's a heap of dead zombies on the screen, but not even that is enough to damper the fun of slaughtering zombies on your own or with a friend or trying to go for the best top score that you can get. The House Of The Dead: Overkill is a good rental at least.
