One of the Best Super Hero Games Ever

User Rating: 8.3 | The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction PS2
As most other reviews have claimed, this is possibly the best game ever based on a super hero. Overall, this was a fun game that could stand on its own even without a license behind it. The game does however have a few aspects that will take some gamers (like me) so time to get used to.
First, this game is mission based (like the GTA series). Rather than having the traditional levels to beat, players have numerous short missions to choose from within each level. The game also includes optional missions for extra unlockables.
The down side of the mission based sytem is load times...lots of them. Most missions last around 1-3 minutes, and at the completion of each one, there is another load screen. While this is fine in GTA, I must admit it really interrupts the setting in what is supposed to be a super hero game.
This game did get rid of the Bruce Banner stealth missions from the first game (thankfully). However, the Hulk now seems much easier to kill than the legendary comic book character should be. Hulk now does missions like Tommy Vercetti, and can take just about as much damage. This also kind of ruins the feel of a comic book adventure.
This is a better game than the first Hulk. However, it feels less like a comic adventure or movie than it does Gamma Theft Auto. An enjoyable game, but In my opinion it doesn't do justice to the source material. Worth a rental to all and a decent purchase for any fan of mission based games. The sheer number of missions will provide more than enough replay value to qualify as a good full-price purchase.
