Believe the hype. Amazing from start to finish
Well fear not this game is all it's made out to be and more. Never has playing a game felt so much like watching a movie. . and a bloody good movie too.
The graphics are amazing, on more than one occasion I left my character standing there doing nothing after a cut scene because I didn't realize the movie like cut scene had ended and I was now in charge of the life like character on screen. It would be easy to let the amazing graphics carry the game but Naughty Dog don't do things by halves. The story is fantastic, It was hard to put the controller down at any point as I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Twists, Turns, deaths. . .many deaths all acted out with oscar worthy performances. I wouldn't be surprised if hollywood step in to make this in to a movie franchise. The characters are so good, especially Ellie the 14yr old girl who is the co-star (if not THE star) of the game. Towards the end of the game I was genuinely getting angry at anyone who tried to hurt her. I've never felt so attached to a computer game character before.
This is like all my favourite movies and games rolled into one. The infected are like those found in "28 days later" the adventure and creepiness brings back memories of playing the original resident evil back on the original playstation. The bitter sweet ending is good but may not please all, although I suspect there will be a sequel despite naughty dog originally saying this would be a one off.
So stop reading this and just buy it you wont be disappointed. If there are any downsides. . well let me think. . . I suppose the first 3 or 4 hours are a little slow. Although I only notice this on my second play through as the first time I was getting absorbed into the story.
Secondly there is a little bit of input lag, much like there is in the uncharted series. But it's not game breaking and I soon got used to it. I can forgive it as it's obviously pushing my old ps3 to it's limits.
