One of the best games I've ever played.

User Rating: 10 | The Last of Us PS3
I've been playing games since I was 13 (I'm now 34) and I've completed (or at least played) most of the major important games released throughout those 20+ years. Nowadays it's becoming increasingly harder for games to impress me they way they did 10-15 years ago. My expectations are so high now, both in terms of graphics and design, that for a game to live up to these expectations, it has to get at least a 9 out of 10. I guess you could say that I've been spoiled.

When I look back over the last 20 years I could probably mention 12-15 games that I would consider to be the best games of all time, because they were true masterpieces of their time. The Last of Us is the newest addition to that list.

The Last of Us impresses in many ways. Graphically it's stunning (for a PS3 game) and the story, character interaction, ending and atmosphere itself are deep and meaningful. Most impressive however is the overall design of game. The attention to detail is incredible. Sure there are some technical limitations (few destructible objects, lack of shadows in places, reflections, tessellation etc.), but overall this game has more details than any other game I've seen to date. Every single location contains clues of an immersive story that never fails to stir up emotions.

The Last of Us is a beautiful game and a real masterpiece. Although I paid full price for it, only to play it for a week before I had to move on, it was worth every penny of it.

I highly recommend playing it. (But play it on hard)
