A six you are kidding me. This game desrves better.
but after a while and loads of bordem made me try again to see if doing one thing that i didn't do before would fix it. turns out that was the remedy it needed i also played on an emulator so the sound was horrible and most of it was voiceless so not rating on sound because that's not how it's suppose to sound.
characters [yes i do consider this a topic]
one thing i adore in games are characters, and sometimes they will be enough to make me like it.
dispite what anyone says the characters are well thought out and can be very entertaining at times, and i'd take thewse guys over any cast of final fantasy any day.
what makes me love each one dispite who they are [even meru who i should not like] is because they act more human and they're moods will change based on personality and the event that takes place. like albert the logical one turns to questions to find out why this happened, where as dart acts on insinctics and let's the situation sink in before knowing how to act in response.
these guys will even make you laugh to wether it's just meru speaking out of turn, or dart and shana being spied on. i know i get a few laughs when ever albert is around the girl he likes.
gameplay
ok i'm going to be honest here and say i hate the additions unless i have ultimate wargod on, other wise i don't use nothing but the first ones.
additions aside the funest thing is the dragoons with the freaky powerful magic not to mention they just look cool. but to be honest albert with final addition can out rank these guys as long as you have ultimate wargod on at least.
boosting your magic is also nice so one magic spell from the first disk is still powerful in the last as long as you can keep the meter moving.
enemies unlike others can still pose a nice chalenge and are not pushovers, some of these things require stratgey like the bosses but the exp you get is pathetic and gold is slim to none.
[i didn't say it was perfect]
bosses can range from rediculiously easy to insnely powerful and not even cheating yourself to level 60 will not rest assure you will not lose a few characters or take some massive damage.
don't even be shocked when you suddenly get a gameover when everything seemed to be going good.
but that does not make it a bad game, just a challenging one that you can turn to when everything is to easy.
no sound cause i'm not going to judge it by how bad the emulator sounds.
graphics
ok remember this is a first gen playstaition game it will not look like ps2 or 3 the ps1 could only handle so much.
i'll admit i don't judege the game based on graphics hardly at all and this is no exception, it's basicly like final fantasy 7 with the beautiful areas and the legoish people walking around them, cept they just look better then in ff7 and are more human looking.
the fmvs and cutsenes without text boxes are nice, the fmvs are stunning and though they need to be more often the ps1 as i said has limits. but they could have done better the ten or so.
the other downgraded animations might not look like the fmvs but they still have the action and heart that went into the others a i personal like some of them more then the fmvs.
overall
this was one game i'm glad i picked back up again, but it was the first that made me strike my computer when it locked up during the final boss.
hey i'm not gonna lie here.
about anyway a great game even worth suffering through frequent lock ups and the horrible sound glitches an emulator can make. i'm really glad i got to enjoy it for what it is instead of selling it thinking it was broken.
