Not what I expected but close enough.

Legend of Heroes is a fun little RPG brought to you buy the makers of Ys, Brandish and the Sorcerian series. Two of those games were only in Japan. Go ahead, search it on GameFAQ's and GameSpot. I'll wait..

Done? Oh! Well, I'm talking about Falcom. And Bandai too. But it's a fun little RPG that follows around Avin who had sort of a rough childhood.

You play as Avin, a boy who lived with his sister and spent every moment of his life with her. One day the two were minding their own business when they were caught by their professor. While she was scolding them for doing what they were doing, the nearby guards were killed by a man named Bellias. Their professor took them to safety when Bellias' men chased after. A man named Sage Gawaine protects Avin while his sister was taken away. A couple years later Avin is living peacefully in a town called Ourt. After meeting Mile, he decides to go out and find his sister.

Really, the graphics weren't all that good. They looked great, but when you look at the graphics of other PSP games such as Grand Theft Auto and Daxter, you really wonder why Falcom and Bandai didn't work so much on the graphics. They are good a little bit but it might hurt your eyes after a while.

*sigh* No voice acting. Instead it is just random dialogue which was translated badly. Several sentences won't make sense so for the next game they will seriously have to work on that.

Other than no voice acting, the music is great. It's very enjoyable and there are tons of different songs for each city. I really like the song when you are fighting. It kind of gets me pumped. Kind of.

The game play is very good and this game will get you hooked, but not for long. You will not want to replay it over and over again until the next game is released because it is so short and lacks many things. It really shouldn't take that long to learn how to really play the game. It will only take 2 minutes of your time. However, aside from the learning curve, there really isn't much else.

I really did not like the fact that there were absolutely no side quests. Nothing! Most RPG's have tons of side quests for you to do but this one has none! It has one mini game but that's it! Nothing else. You will have a pet in this game. Yes it's true. You can feed it, scold it, or praise it and that's about it. If you praise it lots of times, it will help you in battle, but it rarely comes to help. And when it does, all it does is attack your enemies which does low damage or protect you by casting a protect spell. Nothing will happen if you don't feed it so don't bother wasting your money on pet food in this game. It will walk around with you and find items which you probably already have a ton in your inventory. I really thought the pet thing was useless and they should have at least given you an option if you wanted one or not.

There is one mini game you can play and win prizes. You have 3 different categories and 3 options in each. In the first one you choose from immediately, after a moment, and after making a wish. When that's done, you choose slowly, at normal speed, or quickly. Then finally you choose first prize, any prize will do, or no prize. Even if you choose first prize you still won't get it. There are ten different prizes in which only 2 are useful. A sword and a Gold Anklet. Everything else you can buy. When you make those choices the guy will spin a wheel which will land on a color which will tell you your prize. So basically the whole option thing was useless. Regardless of the crappy prizes you will want to get that first prize as it is one of the two good prizes.

Those are the only features in the game and I'm extremely upset that there were no side quests!

The game is good! I spent hours playing it and trying to beat it. But really, you can beat the game in like 2 or 3 days if you play long enough. The game lacks many things that a good RPG should have. Side Quests and more mini games. You can only hold ten of each item in your inventory. That can easily be wasted in a hard boss battle. The game had you fighting the same monsters over and over again. Overall the game is fun but there is nothing you can do with it after you beat it.
