What is this? Is this supposed to be Spyro? No really, what'd you do with the REAL Spyro?

Let me start off by just saying that I have always loved Spyro... on the Playstation 1. Now let me say that on the Wii, this franchise looks destined for total failure. I mean, this game looks like a designer took Crash Bandicoot (which is a pretty good game series, don't get me wrong) and put Spyro skins all over everything. The entire gameplay base of the first two games has been demolished and replaced with repetetive, homogenous level design that makes PS1 Spyro fans like me sick to our stomachs. Oh, and the story? Let's see... I played the game about a month ago... and I can't remember a single component of the plot or storyline. Just Elijah Wood spouting some crap about being able to control time. Wow. Elijah Wood. I guess the developers thought casting a bunch of movie stars into their terrible storyline would make it better somehow. And what happened to the Gnorcs and Rhynocs as minions? What the heck are these fungus-covered monkey things?
Now for the good parts (yes, there are a FEW good parts). Smashing the minions with super-fire is pretty fun. For a while. Controlling time is fun. For a while. And the boss battles are OK, just overshadowed by the total failure of the rest of the gameplay components. So, my advice for you is only buy this game if you have NEVER played another Spyro game, or if you're under 6 years old and the overly-easy gameplay and boring storyline won't make a difference.
