Fourteen years and it is still one of the best.
I got home and just held the box in my hands and looked at it for a few minutes admiring the artwork my mother purchased nearly forgetting that a game cartridge was in it. My mom asked "Aren't you going to play your new game?" I popped it in my Super Nintendo and right from the beginning I was hooked.
The story was very enchanting; you’re a hero on a quest in a wide open land trying to save the princess of a castle. You, not even a man just a boy with the courage of ten men. Along the way you meet new and interesting people who aid you on your journey always leaving you with a new item or a piece of advice to help you grow wiser in a world full of danger.
The gameplay was just incredible, your offered limitless ways to battle and given abilities to offer versatility in the event of a fight. Controls are simple and quite effective, no sense of button mashing at all unless you have a chicken cornered and your sick enough to go crazy with your sword.
The graphics were absolutely beautiful, even today, they did a great job adding life to everything that surrounds you, the sophistication of the most insignificant things like flowers dancing in the wind or the hobo under the bridge taking a nap by the smoky fire with a nose bubble inflating and deflating as he rests.
The music was excellent, Zelda has some of the best orchestral music I have ever heard, but my personal favorite Zelda music actually comes from this title and I feel without Zelda's music in the video game symphony "Play", the whole concept of video game music being played by an Orchestra would never work, certainly not do nearly as well as it has.
This game is priceless, it is an instant classic and it can be enjoyed over and over again, playing it just one time isn't enough, there's lots to do, so much to see in the land of Hyrule, if you haven’t played this game you have to play it right now!
