The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is brilliant. Every Zelda game starts you off in Hyrule. This Hyrule though is more massive than any of the other Zelda games before it. It's not just wasted space either, every area is worth exploring. There are secrets and mysteries around every corner. The cell shaded graphics look really cool. Unlike other Zelda games this is the first one that allows you to use a ton of different types of weapons and shields. They are meant to break, therefor using them and picking up new weapons is part of the fun. There are different armor sets all of which can be color changed. There are multiple towns and characters that are quirky and remind you of past games. The enemies are fun to fight. They can be dodged and hit, you can sneak up on sleeping enemies and one shot them, there are multiple ways to slay your enemies. In this Zelda game, to level up your health and stamina you need to explore these mini dungeons. Some are only a few obstacles long and each one grants you 1 of 4 orbs you need to level up. If you find all the dungeons in the game you get a special reward ;-) The main dungeons are unique, fun and boss battles are awaiting strategy within them.
This is a way more modernized Zelda. You have a map, you can tag things, you have a side quest list, a temple list, a main quest list, you have all your items sorted for you nicely. This Zelda is perfect in so many ways. Exploration is so much fun in this game just like Dark Souls was so much fun to explore. I often had so many missions available to me at one time but I decided to just explore the map and find hidden temples instead. I never thought I would use the camera, until I started taking pictures of everything because they register in your camera roll and tell you about what you took the picture of and what drops from it and big description.
This game will you keep you playing for hours upon hours. It's a huge playground of never ending quests to complete. New gear, weapons, food, potions are all around every corner. DLC just adds to the awesomeness of this game. I love this game.
My only real problem with this game is that it RAINS way too much.. and it effects your gameplay drastically. All the fire goes out and you cant light torches. You can climb anything so a few times I was forced to stand around and wait... then it literally rained again the next day, IT ALWAYS RAINS! I never saw a game rain so much.. so annoying.
