We don't see many 2D games on the home consoles anymore. Four Swords Adventures proves that 2D gameplay still rocks.

The Legend of Zelda series is just plain awesome, any true gamer knows that. I, like many others, am a HUGE Zelda fan. I don't think I'll ever get sick of saving Zelda's butt over and over, mainly because every new Zelda game seems to get better. Well, we are all still waiting to play Twilight Princess on our brand-spanking new Wii consoles this fall, but what can we do until then? How about sitting down and playing The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures? Yup, the latest Zelda game for the Gamecube is one of the most unique and innovative games in the series. Our hero, Link, has taken hold of a sword that splits him into four Links. You must control your four little elf pals and fight your way through Vaati's soldiers and creatures, and of course figure out an interesting puzzle here and there. However, you do not have to play alone, you can invite your three best amigos and hook up your GBA's to the Gamecube and have a blast throwing each other over cliff gaps and fighting your way through beautiful levels of impressive 2D graphics and some 3D elements popping up once and a while. If you need a break from rescuing that princess, you and your friends can always beat each other up in the VS mode, which features awesome weapons to use and the great feeling of accomplishment as you watch purple Link run around with his butt on fire.

Okay, seriously now. Four Swords is a great Zelda game through and through. It's absolutely beatiful as far as the level design goes, and it's probably the most innovative Zelda game of them all. The only real downside is that everyone must have a GBA and a link cable to play multiplayer. It's worth it though, the game is so dang fun that it won't matter. While you're waiting for Twilight Princess to be released and you haven't play this game yet, please give it a go. This game is really fun, I have fun every time I play it. Give this game a playthrough, you won't regret it!
