Majora's Mask delivers a deep story, fun gameplay, plentiful sidequests, and a new experience to the Zelda series.

User Rating: 10 | Zelda no Densetsu: Majora no Kamen (w/Memory Pack) N64
Story:10-The story is the greatest reason why this game is so good. It's different from other Zelda titles, but you still get the Zelda feel out of it. The story's apocalyptic theme sets the game up to have the deepest story of any Zelda game. It's very mysterious, and there are a lot of twists and turns in it that you might not see coming. As you help more and more people across the land of Termina(where the game takes place), the better off things will be for you. There are a lot more things relatable to real life than in other installments of the series. There's death and sorrow, but also joy, gain, friendship, and rebirth. It also teaches hard work, as you'll have to relive three days multiple times to accomplish your goals. To conclude, from beginning to end, Majora's Mask has quite an amazing story.

Gameplay:9.5-The puzzles and fighting in this game are both great. Some puzzles are a little challenging and might take some patience, but they're awesome just like the other Zelda games. The fighting and the weapons aren't much different from Ocarina of Time, except for a few minor changes. That isn't a bad thing, however, as Ocarina of Time excelled in both of those areas. The main path of the game is going around to a different quarter of Termina every time you finish a big event in the game. Each quarter has different terrain, ranging from a swamp to an ocean. You generally will start the area by helping solve problems for the people who live there before moving on to the dungeon. You repeat the same pattern until you complete all four quarters of the land. However, each one has its own different taste, and you'll feel like your doing something new every place you go. My only main complaint about its gameplay, though, is that the main dungeons are a little too long and can get tedious. This isn't much of an issue though, because there are only four of them. That many seem like that's too few, but there is a lot to accomplish outside of dungeons. Therefore, four dungeons are perfect for this game. Despite my complaint, the gameplay is still excellent.

Mask Gameplay:9.75-Majora's Mask introduces the ability to accomplish by putting on masks. There are 20 normal masks in the game which give you the ability to do something in your human form. Some of the masks abilities include attracting fairies, making yourself gigantic, making you go faster, giving you the ability to dance, and the ability to check postboxes. Some of these masks you need to complete the story, while others are for completing the plentiful sidequests in this game. There are also three transforming masks, which make you become a different race in Termina by putting them on. The three forms are Deku, Goron, and Zora. By putting them on, you can do things like fly, roll, and swim. For each form, you also get a different instrument to play songs on. These masks are required to complete the story, but you will use them many times during sidequests as well. The final mask you can use is the Fierce Deity mask. If you collect all 20 normal masks, you can trade them in at the end of the game to get this mask. With it, you can transform into a devastating character which can take down the game's final boss in just a few minutes. You can also use the mask against the other bosses in the game too. Overall, the ability to use masks in this game was stunning, and added even more fun to the gameplay. It would only have been better if there were more forms to transform into, but that's more of a request than a complaint.

Music:10-This game continues the trend of having stunning and memorable music in Zelda games. The music in the game conveys the deep feeling in the story very well. There are nostalgic songs, as well as many new, memorable, songs that are still considered as classics to this date. In addition to background music, you also have four instruments to play songs you learn on. You can use an ocarina, pipes, drums and even a fishbone guitar! Depending on which form you are in, you'll play a song with the same tune but a little different sound than if you had played it with another instrument. In my opinion, that's a pretty cool concept. It would be pretty hard to have much better music in this game.

Graphics:9.5-The graphics are above average in this game. They aren't a detriment to the game's value, so I can't complain about them. They fit the game well.

Controls:9.5-Just like the game's graphics, there isn't much to say about them. The setup for the controls works well and is easy to use. The N64 controller is a bit awkward, but that's not much of an issue.

Sidequests/Extras:9.75-Majora's Mask provides tons of quality things to do that are not required in the main story. You can stop an alien invasion, race beavers, prevent robberies, go to dog races, help seahorses, and so much more. There are 52 heart pieces to collect alone, more than any other Zelda game. With so many things to do, the game can provide hours of gameplay. In my opinion, Majora's Mask offers some of the best sidequests of any Zelda game.

Overall:9.75-With only a few flaws, Majora's Mask is a wonderful game that provides many things that a Zelda fan could want. It's full of things to do, and in my opinion gives you a great video game experience that you might not forget for a while. I find it to be the third greatest Zelda installment, and one of the best games of all time.
