User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64
For a long time time we have all know this great series as The Legend of Zelda. LoZ made its first appearance on the NES. Where it there changed the world of gaming forever. Zelda shocked thousands around the world, a game that rose out of no where and and climbed to the top. The Legend of Zelda was just recently announced the best series of all time by IGN. In my oppinion it belongs just as it is said, Legend of Zelda is the best series of all time. Now the first few Zelda games started out either overhead or side scrolling. But then suddendly out of no where came a totally 3D game that we all know as The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. It was amazing how Nintendo did it, they turned an overhead game into the perfect game. Ocarina of Time is flawless. Some of you know it as my favorite game ever, and it is. There have been many great Zelda games following OoT but none could match the sheer greatness of this game. The long awaited LoZ Twilight Princess will soon be released and is supposed to be the most epic and best Zelda game so far. But the real question is, can it hold up to its own challenge? I dont know about you but I think it is going to be a very difficult challenge. Now let's get back to the OoT review.

Gameplay 10 - In the game you start as a young forest boy you will later know as The Hero of Time, or more simply Link. You are summoned by the Great Deku Tree. Immideatyl a fairy, Navi, comes to fetch this young boy who right now is only known as a kid of the forest. From that Link is summoned to fufil an even bigger duty, to save the land of Hyrule from evil. You start out having to collect three spritual stones, from three dungeons. Along the way you meet the yong princess Zelda. (yeah we all know Link loves her) The havoc that is being put upon the land of Hyrule is because of one man known as Ganandorf. Ganandorf is trying to collect all three pieces of the Trifoce so he can take complete power. He later takes princess Zelda captive because she has one of the pieces of the Triforce. You have no choice but to save her. Now the special feature about this game, is that after you collect all the spritual stones, Link can fastfoward seven years in time to become an adult. As an adult not only will Link look different, but he can do some completely different things as well. You will have to make your way thourgh five temples. (not including The temple of Time or Ganandor's castle) Forest Temple, Fire Temple, Water Temple, Shadow Temple, and Sprit Temple. Along the way, your journey will lead you through some amazing enemies and even cooler items. The controls handle perfectly and easily as could be. Everything has its own spefic place to be put and how it can be used. You will come across some puzzles that can stump you for awhile, but dont worry there are never any extremely hard puzzles. (not if you have played the game as much as me) In the land of Hyrule you will come across some amazing things, especially now that it is in 3D. The world is very large for a game of its age. You can never run out of things to do in the game. Even if you have beaten the game, there are a countless number of side missions you can take on. One of the features I have not mentioned is the Ocarina its self, it is mentioned in the title anyways. You get the ocarina from Princess Zelda as a burden to help you on your journey. The ocarina will later let you travel to certain places in the game so you dont have to waist as much time walking there. There is also a new freind you make in OoT. Her name is Epona and she is your loyal horse. Link can only have her as an adult , but dont worry you'll live. Epona is Link's loyal steed, when called by a song she will come trotting up to Link to give him a lift anythime he needs it. Epona helps you travel around the world of Hyrule a lot quicker than on foot. The overall story and gameplay of this game is rock solid, only one of the reasons making it my favorite game of all time. Grahpics 10 - Absoulty stunning, revolutionary, jaw-dropping, immersive, amazing. Whatever you want to call it, it is hard to believe that this game was made in 1998. The whole game moves very smoothly, and hardly ever frames up. All the enemies look absoluty amazing and also are very smooth and thought out. The backrounds all contain vivid and spectacular detail and look better than most other games for the N64. You think the game's graphics would flaw when there is a lot of action going on, but your wrong The magic attacks and other large attacks look great. I dont know how the creators pulled it off but the graphics are just amazing. They are even better than some of the current generation game's graphics. There is not much more to be said about them because they are so good and there is noting bad to say.

Sound 10 - The best soundtrack of any Zelda game by far. The music of this game is mindblowing. You couldnt ask for anything more perfect than Ocarina of Time's music. It is all put together so perfectly and goes well with every part it is matched up with. For example, the opening music goes perfectly with the relaxing enviornment, with noting else around. But then the music to indicate an emeny is near has the right intensity to get you sitting on the edge of you seat. Everywhere you go, it has the perfect music to go with it. The instrumental work done in the game is outstanding, if you have ever gone to see one of the concerts, you will know. Value 10 - Wow! There is so many reasons that will keep you coming back to play this game for years. I have played through the game so many times it is not even funny. You will never run out of things to do. Weather you just played to see Link do backflips and other cool tricks, or you came to kill Ganandorf. Sometimes I just come to play and see Link do some cool tricks with his sword. I have killed Ganandorf a countless amount of times. This game has been out for eight years now and it still hasn't gotten old. We first got the game when I was six and I still play it today after eight years like many others of you. Even if you have beaten the game, there is a countless number of of side missions and games you can play. You can even become a mask salesman. Or you can go and test your accuracy at the slingshot range. There is also a horserace you can do to brushen up on your horse skills. The possobilities are just endless, there is always something to do. I will probably be playing this game for many more years to come.

Tilt 10 - There is nothing really to say about the tilt. The Gamespot people just thought it was a good idea to have something to bump up you score if you are not satasified with what you already have. Now let's look at it this way, everything else on this masterful game got a perfect 10, why not the tilt.

I cannot stress enough how good this game is. If you haven't played it before, you should probably be slaped. But it's you lucky day because I'm in a good mood. Anyways if you haven't played this game, run to Block Buster right now and buy it. If not that just find some way to play it. This is my favorite game of all time and it will probably remain my favorite game.
