Think "State of the Art."

User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64
I'll be honest, I didn't own an N64 until January of 2006; yeah, I basically could only buy one system each generation until I could buy them with my own money. During the 1995-2001 era I owned the PS1 while most of my friends had an N64 and a PS1. I finally bought an N64 because I wanted to finally play Goldeneye, but that game disappeared back into the store I bought it from, so I had to think of another game to buy. I was looking on Gamespot, and clicked on their top games for the N64, and I saw this game. I had heard of the Zelda franchise before, but had never played a single Zelda game. Before, I always thought Zelda was the kid in the green tunic, until somebody cleared that up for me. So, I saw the perfect 10 score, read the review and decided to go and buy it. It remains my best video game purchase ever.

I was instantly engaged by the story, and the controls, and the music, and just about everything in the game. The graphics were amazing; It's hard to describe the feeling you get when you walk onto Hyrule Field for the first time and see Death Mountain and the castle in the background. The PS1 graphics were not as good in most games, and they certainly didn't pay this much attention to detail as Ocarina did. Link moves fluently and realistically (I think he moves more realistically in this game than in Wind Waker or TP) and it's easy to control him. This game got me mad a couple of times, but as I continued playing it, I got mad less often and started to get the puzzles much easier. It took a long time to beat, but the game gives you such a great feeling of accomplishment when you do.

Just about everything is perfect in this game. It is state of the art; not many games have come close to being this high of quality, not even other Zelda games.
