Best game of all time!

User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64
When I give a game ten out of ten I really mean it, and with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time it deserves every part of that 10. To me this is the first Zelda game that I played and since then the series has revolutionised my gaming experience. To those of you like me who are new to the Zelda series, there is not a lot to pick up form the story line. You play as the silent protagonist Link who must save Princess Zelda and the land of Hyrule from the antagonist Ganondorf. You start off as Link as a kid, who has just been given the task of reclaiming the golden relic called the triforce before Gannon does. In order for Link to excel in his quest he must travel all around the land of Hyrule and gain the respect of each race that inhibit the land by vanquishing the evil that Ganon plagued their land with. To destroy this evil you must enter a dungeon and obtain the necessary tools to complete your task and restore peace to that area.

Oot consists of three temples as a kid and five temples as an adult which must be defeated in order for Link to advance that little bit closer to saving Hyrule. In order to complete these temples there is an item in each dungeon that ultimately helps Link defeat the Boss of the temple and once again advance to the next quest of Links adventure. The dungeons designed are fantastic that exhibit stunning visuals and have just the right amount of difficulty that will make you keep on playing late into the night. Some inexperienced gamers may have a bit of difficulty here and there, (especially in the water temple) but after remembering what items you have you should be able to figure out the puzzle and advance through quite comfortably.

One of the biggest parts of this game is the ability to travel back and forth through time. After completing the first three temples you awaken seven years into the future to find that Ganon is the ruler of Hyrule after obtaining a piece of the triforce. This sets in motion another adventure for Link as he must now awaken the sage of each temple and bring peace back to all parts of Hyrule. What is great about this part of the game is that you feel as though the game has evolved into another completely new adventure with an even better storyline as you can certainly do more as adult Link compared to kid Link. The temples as an adult are certainly more difficult as well as enjoyable as you will need to use a lot more tools to complete the various puzzles within the dungeon.

Oot isn't all about dungeons as there are various side quests that can be completed if you want to take a time out from saving Hyrule. Some of these side quests are necessary like the ice caverns as well as the bottom of the well dungeon but most of them are there for fun as well as increasing your item inventory. Side quests like fishing and horseback archery are certainly worth taking some time out to do as they are enjoyable to play and can take the edge off completing a your quest.

With all the adventure that this game has to offer the controls hold up fantastically. I couldn't believe it myself when I first played the game but every thing hold up brilliantly as there is no fault to the control scheme that will ever make you loose focus on the game itself.

In conclusion if you have Nintendo 64 or a Wii and you don't have this game then I don't know why you have either of these consoles. This is a must own game for all gamers who are looking to play a huge role playing adventure like this. Oot is my favourite game of all time and the only game that I would give ten out of ten for. It has also been named best game of all time by various video game reviewers the most notably being Edge Magazines 2007 edition.
