Gameplaywise, this is the one that wrote the book on how to do everything right. The level design is immaculate, the puzzles are fun to solve and challenging even by today's standards, the story is exciting and involving, the characters are memorable and the controls are far from frustrating.
As far as graphics go, this game is pure art. Limited only by the hardware available at the time, the game still feels big and beautiful to this day.
One can not mention great music in video games without acknowledging the achievement of Ocarina's timeless score. Beautiful renditions of classic Zelda themes are mixed in with new works creating even more depth and appeal.
Ocarina is an easy recommendation based on the length of the campaign coupled with it's tremendous lasting appeal. There are so many moments in this game worth playing over and over again and all of the little things add up to draw players into a new, unforgettable world.
The virtual console emulation of this N64 classic holds true to the original as far as I have seen. Adding nothing and taking nothing away, leaving it just the way it was intended to be: perfect.
