The Legend of Zelda: Phantom of the Hourglass introduces a brand new style to adventure games for the Nintendo hand held console, the DS. Because of the DS' touch pad the player is given total freedom over Link and his actions. Instead of mindlessly walking around in the normal up-down-left-right motions the player is now able to move in any direction he/she sees fit.

Although the previous installments included many items, such as in Oracle of Seasons you had the cane that could switch the seasons or in Ages how you could go from the past to the present, The Phantom Hourglass does not show this diversity. But it doesn't need to. It gives the player just a handful of items that must be mastered to be used in many different ways. The previous games had lets say 30 items and each item has one way to use it, while PH has 6 or so items that are used in multiple ways. Personally I would rather have each item be able to be used multiple ways then receive this amazing item and only truly use it once throughout the game.

The game features 6 dungeons plus the Ocean King's Temple. These 6 Dungeons show true diversity through mazes and other different puzzles. However while these Dungeons show amazing diversity there is the dreaded OCEAN KING'S TEMPLE! This is truly the only thing keeping the game from moving up in rating scores to a 9.5. Link returns to the temple numerous times and each is it gets worse and worse! It is truly the most boring part of the game. You have to replay through puzzles many many times. However if you are able to get past this minor problem you will truly have a masterpiece on your hands.

With The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass the player will be immersed into the Zelda world. The game also hosts Wind Waker's story line and amazing cel-shaded graphics. This game is truly worth playing through despite the slow Ocean King Temple.
