Why should I not give it a 10?

User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword WII
I must admit, even if I am a huge Zelda fan, I was a bit skeptical when Nintendo showed this game at E3 2010. I thought that Skyward Sword will be the point where the series will start going down the hill. Boy, was I wrong. First, I think it is important for me to tell you that the controls are amazing. A few minutes in the game and the controls already feel natural. The art style is breathtaking. It's like candy to the eyes. I really like it when games try different kind of artstyles. Sometimes, you'll end up staring at the beautiful scenery. The chracters in Skyward Sword are very likeable and full of color. They can be funny, cute and sometimes, you might end up feeling sorry for them. Zelda feels like an actual person. Surprisingly, Groose is one the best characters in the game. You gotta love how he turns from a bully to an actually sensitive person. Ghirahim is amazing. Fi, well, she does her job. The gameplay is awesome. If you want to go straight for the story, then you have a good 50 hours of gameplay in front of you and if you aim for 100%, then you have 100+ hours in front of you. There are many mini games and missions for you. You don't ride on Epona's back on this one. Instead, you fly on your crimson loftwing (A bird race that is important to the people who live on Skyloft). Soaring through the sky is every bit as thrilling as riding on your horse's back (Sorry Epona). Also, for the first time in Zelda history, there is an upgrading system that allows to make your items, shields, potions stronger. And you really need to use that upgrading system because this game is not the easiest Zelda ever. Your enemies are smarter and actually defend themselves. Also, towards the end of the game, you have a boss rush mode where you fight all bosses you fought in this game (Which is an awesome thing). The dungeons, despite being short, are THE most well designed dungeons in all Zelda games. You have less items compared to other Zelda games. But is that a bad thing? No. You get to use all of your items instead of using a specific item you got from a specific dungeon and then never use it again. I also love the subtle references to past Zelda games. The music is fully orchestrated and doesn't disappoint. It's amazing. The puzzles are just perfect. Not too easy, not too hard. Just perfect. The story is amazing. It finally explains how the Master Sword was created and why Link and Zelda have to constantly stop evil from taking over the world. It's also a FANTASTIC cinematic experience. The boss fights are intense. Skyward Sword is packed FULL of some of the best boss fights in the Legend of Zelda series. Just the same Ocarina of Time revolutionized the Zelda series with the targeting system, Skyward Sword brings the sword combat to whole other level with 1:1 motion control. These reasons are just about enough for me to give this game a perfect 10. The only reason you'll still prefer Ocarina of Time is because of nostalgia. By far, one of the best games ever created. Do not hesitate on buying this magnificent game.
