Skyward Sword is the newest installment and very different, but can it still fit in the masterful series?

Yes it can. This new addition to the Zelda series is once again a masterpiece. Every cinematic scene sends chills through your body, every epic dungeon is as immersive as the last, and the beautiful sounds and colors keep you in the mood. When I heard that there was a new Zelda game I was super excited. But when I heard that it was for the Wii, my hopes went down. I was and still am a die hard Zelda fan, so I dusted off my Wii and got Skyward Sword. I was hooked the minute I called for my loftwing hurdling down through the clouds. Now lets start with the 4 questions that is always asked before you buy a game: How is the Story? How good are the graphics? Is the sound good? And of course, how is the gameplay?

Lets start with the story. As we all know this is the origins of every game that has come out. Link and Zelda are best friends on a city high above the clouds called Skyloft. Link and Zelda have a tight relationship, but once again Zelda gets taken away from an evil power. And Link is set out along with Fi ( A slave to the goddess that has been asked to accompany Link on his adventure to save Zelda) to find Zelda. Right away my heart went out for Zelda, and I wanted to find out who was behind this. So now Link has to go below the clouds where Zelda was taken to. I loved every minute of it, and the twists were unexpected.

Now on to the graphics. To hear that Nintendo was going toward to water colors made me giddy inside. A mix of TP and Wind Waker. There are wonderful cinematics that makes you forget that there is no voice acting. Link looks great, and the surroundings look like they have come out of a water color painting. But one thing that was a little disappointing was that you faced the same kinda enemies throughout the 60 hour campaign. But all in all the graphics look great for being on the Wii.

Lets head over to the sound. Of course there is no voice acting, but the music makes up for it. Each little area has its own little tune. Like in the Bazaar there is a whole bunch of little side shops. Each shop replicates the same tune in the Bazaar but in its own little quirky manner. Little things like that is what makes a game for me.

Now last but not least the gameplay. Once again when I heard this game was coming out for the Wii, my hopes were crushed. But since they added the motion plus, Nintendo finally pulled it off. Link replicates every little wrist and slice movement. There were some downfalls like when you try to roll a bomb it was to unresponsive and when you barely flick the nunchuck your shield pops out. But then there are positives like the sword play was accurate as it can get, and when you fly on the Loftwing it felt real good. In this game there are 2 places (or hubs if you will) that you can explore. The sky where there is: shops, minigames, sidequests, bug catching, and goddess chests. And then there is ground, where there are plains, dungeons, minigames, goddess cubes, and bug catching as well. The thing that sets this game apart from others in the series is that there are nice breaths of air between dungeons. The puzzles were clever but just too easy. The dungeons were brilliant and each one unique from each other. And of course Fi (navi impersonator) was annoying. I loved the upgrading factor in this game. You can upgrade pretty much every item in your inventory. The boss fights were very good as well.

After the motion controls I don't want to ever go back to normal controls for Zelda. I'd have to say this is the best in the series, the story was so intriguing.
