Link's second adventure on the DS.
User Rating: 8 | The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks DS
Zelda: Spirit Tracks is the sequel to Phantom Hourglass which in turn is the sequel to the Wind Waker, making ST the third in a trilogy. Unlike the other two games, the field is traversed using a train rather than a boat. You are literally on rails as you go from place to place. It can get repetitive after awhile, but I have to give them thumbs up for at least trying something new. There are five secondary dungeons and one main dungeon (The Tower of Spirits). In the Tower of Spirits, you try to find rail maps, which can increase the area a which you can travel. This is how you progress through the game. Another twist is that Zelda now travels alongside you as a ghost as her body was taken away from her. In ghost form, she has the ability to take over phantoms. Link is also intrusted with an instrument that creates music as you blow in the DS mic. The songs you learn are great to play, but the songs you are forced to play with the temple guardians can get really annoying, especially the songs that require you to skip notes inbetween blows. The puzzles can also get devilishly hard towards the end of the game, so much that you may end up reading a FAQ or walkthrough for the first time in a while in order to progress (of particular note is the final segment of the Tower of Spirits). It's definately one of the weaker titles in the series IMO.
