User Rating: 9.2 | The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap GBA
The Legend of Zelda is a series that just never stops giving to the gaming world. It set a level of quality a long time ago and hardly ever drops below that bar, The Minish Cap is no exception to this. It is an outstanding game and one you can play anywhere for that matter. The Minish Cap tells the tale of an evil sorcerer named Vaati who goes to Hyrule during the Picorri festival and release an evil that is sealed in a box by the Four Sword (the sword most would probably call the Master Sword based soley on how it looks, but due to the time in which this game takes place it is not yet known as the Master Sword). He breaks the sword to open the box which releases evils into Hyrule and then he turns Zelda and all other people in the castle into stone and now it is up to you, the young adventurer dressed in green clothes to collect the 4 elements and restore the power to this now broken sword. With the help of the Minish (a mysterious race that are very tiny) and Ezlo (a sorcerer who was turned into a green hat which you wear upon your head) you set off on your adventure to restore the Four Sword. Of course we can expect a whole lot of great dungeons to explore and many things to do in the land of Hyrule because this is of course a Zelda game. The Minish Cap delivers on all of that ten fold. As many times as you adventure around and think your getting close to the end you think of more things you want to do personally and find more places to explore. I swear this game could just keep going and going. One thing that causes this effect is Kinstones. These are half stones you will find in grass you cut down, from enemies, or in treasure chests. You can then find people around Hyrule and fuse your half with their half (if youhave a match) which will result in something good happening somewhere in Hyrule. This could be chests appearing, new pathways opening up or other things. There are a ton of these Kinstones for you to find and a ton of people to fuse them with, this really adds a lot of extra depth to the game.

This Zelda also gives you many fun dungeon toys to play with. From your classic boomerang and bombs to new items like the Gust Jar and Mole Mitts. I always expect Zelda to give me a wonderful array of items to use to solve puzzles and Minish Cap does just that and utilizes all of them nicely. The sound in the game is your typical themes. There is actually a lot more music in this one than in a lot of Zelda's. You'll get slightly different music in almost everywhere on the map instead of just the Zelda theme everywhere on the map. It's nice to have the switchup and also all the classic sounds back. The graphics are gorgeous. If you've seen Four Swords adventures on the cube you know exactly what to expect, I'd also compare them to an upgraded Link to the Past. A very clean sprite based look. I really can't complain about much of anything in Minish Cap. I get that slightly lost feeling a few times throughout all Zelda gams when they give me some obscure clue as to where I am to head next, but I can't really hold it against them, perhaps it's even my fault not there's. The Minish Cap is a great addition to all Zelda fan's collection and tells a very important part of the legend. Don't miss out on picking up this game and giving it at least one play through.
