Definitely not a disappointment.
But I still bought it and I don't regret the decision.
A fascinating adventure on the high seas, Wind Waker captures and holds you.
The gameplay is great though perhaps not phenomenal. It's the Zelda system... I've written about it in other reviews and I don't really feel like reiterating, but I like it. And just a little comment here: some people think it's "stuck in the past" or "the same-old same-old" but if you want a different system, play a different series.
Anyway I like it.
Besides the save the world shebang there's a lot of fun stuff to do and explore in the game. You can feed fish and control birds. Well I'm not going to say much. It's an adventure game that takes place in a big sea. There are many dungeons (though they were not as diverse as I would prefer) with many bosses. It's not very hard-core but it is very fun and entertaining.
