"A worthy sequel to the Zelda franchise"

User Rating: 9.6 | The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Limited Edition) GC
After several years of waiting, the new Zelda game is finally released, but with it cel-shaded graphics, would it live up to today's expectations? Yes, with out a doubt,Zelda is back, and in good shape. The gameplay hasn't changed much from previous installments, though the game mechanisms have been polished to perfection. There are some new gameplay elements as well, for example the ability to sail around, from island to island, the grappling hook, and lots of sidequests as usual. A new gameplay feature is the counterattack, timing your attack with the enemy's movement will give you a direct blow at the enemy's back. You can sail the world on "The King of red lions" using the wind you move from island to island, in hope of fulfilling your quest. Using the boat you can also search for treasure on the bottom of the sea. Another big element of gameplay is the wind, you can change the direction of the wind, so that you can glide through the air without getting driven away, getting the wind your way while using the boat is also advantageous. You will also get some company on your mission this time around, they help with opening doors giving hints, and getting you to places you can't reach. You can even control them, which is a cool branch in the gameplay section. You play as a little kid, and it's your birthday, a custom on the island is to dress boys in green cloths when they reach a certain age,to celebrate the hero of time.Shortly after this you see a big bird, followed by a ship, holding a girl.A cannonball hits the bird, making it drop the girl into the woods. This results in the bird, taking your sister instead. Of course, you follow the bird, which leads you in the role of ultimatly saving the world. The games's graphics are great, even though fans all over the world mourned the cel-shading graphics of the game, but there is no need for grief, this is actually a thought of genious from the producers side. When Link get's out of water you'll see his soaking wet, you'll see him look around for objects in the rooms, and this adds to the feeling that he actually has a personality, which is something few game's has done before it. The effect of explosions, the facial expressions, it gives the game a soul like no other, this game really can brag of it's graphics with good reason. The music is composed of remixes from Ocarina of time, though there are some new tracks, and the use of bagpipes and all kinds of instruments gives this game a soul unlike any game soundtrack I've ever heard. An awesome soundtrack that any game should envy. The game is a bit shorter then it's predecesors, and it does get boring crusing from island to island after a while. This is no big minus though, because the game is so filled with passion and glory, it's worth picking up, and for anyone who does'nt own a gamecube, this is as good reason as any to buy one. My own opinion is that this game, belongs to a class of it's own, a worthy sequel to the series, and Link's adventures.
