A Zelda adventure that diverges a bit from its predecessors
User Rating: 8.8 | The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Limited Edition) GC
Introduction: I've played this game around 6 times over the three years it's been, so I feel that I'm quite qualified to write a review on it. Gameplay: The classic Zelda formula would've already guarenteed a 7 in gameplay, but Windwaker takes it to a higher level with a new button tap that gives you an automatic pre-emptive strike. The controls are fluid as ever, and the puzzles are pretty fun to do (although they've been made easier). Graphics: The graphics really depend on your opinion. In my opinion, they were very appropriate for the storyline (which is sort of like a growing up adventure). Sound: The music and sound effects were top notch. Link doesn't have the exact same voice as young link in the n64 days, and new sounds were added for every item. The music (especially the sailing theme) were memorable, like in most zelda games. Value: Windwaker is chock full of mini games, and secret little areas that are fun to discover. A certain hidden Savage Labyrinth dungeon was possibly the greatest hidden area in any zelda game to date. The game is short and pretty easy, but the extra content is in great quantity. Tilt: I tilt it to 9 due to its very lovable characters and storyline. The point was deducted due to a few major complains that I had. First, the infamous triforce hunting quest. Second, the reappearance of Tingle and his expensive maps. Third, the inhabitants of the forest haven (I hated them). Anyone who likes Zelda games shouldn't hesitate. I'd recommend it to anyone who'd enjoy a lighthearted storybook-like adventure.
